When the topic of climate protection is discussed, it is always a question of what contribution the various areas of action can make. Many - too many - hopes are placed on land use. - hopes are placed on land use. Land use and its potential for climate protection is also one of the core topics of research at the LMU. Julia Pongratz, who will moderate the evening, is one of the most sought-after scientists in this field and advises national and international committees.

Karlheinz Erb is Professor of Social Ecology and heads the Institute of Social Ecology at the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences, Vienna. Here, natural science and social science research converge, i.e. ecological aspects play a role as well as questions of human geography and economics.

Sonali Shukla McDermid is a professor of environmental studies at NYU. Her research examines the role of land use in regional and global climate systems. She focuses particularly on agriculture, which plays a supporting role in climate change mitigation in both positive and negative ways.

A registration is required. You can find more information on the website of the CAS.
